New lounge from Atlanta combining hookah and CBD comes to Dallas

A new lounge concept from Atlanta goes to Dallas: Called Cru hemp lounge, owned by Atlanta-based entrepreneur Dennis McKinley, and will open a facility in Carrollton, 2512 E. Belt Line Rd., in the former Coconut Thai Space.

According to a press release, it will open on July 16.

Cru Hemp Lounge is a quick, casual shisha hemp lounge with unique shisha flavors, hemp oil extracts, small plates and special cocktails. All of these four things are not often seen in one.

McKinley said in a statement that combining shisha with a CBD element in a casual lounge atmosphere made his concept not only a huge hit, but also a celebrity hotspot. Which celebrities does he not say.

“Cru Hemp Lounge isn’t a standard bar or nightclub, it’s a lifestyle lounge that attracts not only the attention of guests but also franchise developers,” says McKinley. “We have grown exponentially over the past few years and are excited to be the largest hookah lounge in the United States.”

Dishes include wings, burgers, quesadillas, crab mac & cheese, lollipop lamb chops, and crab cakes.

Cocktails include cru rita with avion tequila, agave, lime juice, with a salt rim; and Cru Lemonade, a house lemonade enriched with peach, strawberry or mango puree.

But not only food and drink are on the menu. You also have:

  • Shishas like their home mix with mint, orange, peach, banana, watermelon, strawberry, cherry, coconut and vanilla

  • Hemp pre-rolls

  • Hemp / CBD products

They currently have six locations: four in Atlanta as well as Houston and Charlotte. Over the course of this summer they plan to open additional locations in Atlanta as well as in Memphis, Austin, Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Birmingham, Miami, Macon and Phoenix.

The press release said that due to the high number of vacancies due to COVID-19 closings, the company is able to get in there and open stores, often 90 days after signing a lease.

This will make them not only the largest hookah lounge operator, but also the largest nightlife chain owned by Black.

And as the publication says, once cannabis becomes legal nationwide, they will already have an established VIP customer base who are believed to like cannabis. What VIPs, they don’t say.
