New tower starting at Dallas Cowboys’ Star development in Frisco
The $ 1.5 billion star Dallas Cowboys development in Frisco is growing with the construction of a new skyscraper.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ Blue Star Land and Lincoln Property Co. are breaking ground for an 11-story office tower on the west side of Dallas North Tollway.
The new office project will complement the Cowboys’ headquarters and practice field, Ford Center Indoor Stadium, Omni Hotel, and a shopping mall in the 91 acre mixed-use project.
The new office tower will meet the growing business need for space at The Star, said Joe Hickman, President and General Manager of Blue Star.
“We already signed some office leases and we decided to pull the trigger and build this building,” said Hickman. “Of course there are plenty of tenants putting things on hold to see how the office market would recover from the pandemic.”
The more than 314,000 square meter office tower – designed by Dallas architect HKS – has been in the works since 2019.
“We’ve probably been planning this building for a year,” Hickman said. “When COVID hit, we put it on hold.
“Now we have a few tenants in the district.”
Plano-based medical financial services provider Cain Watters & Associates will be the first office tenant in the new building. Russell Cosby and Torrey Littlejohn from Jones Lang LaSalle negotiated the lease.
Blue Star Land and Lincoln Property built a six-story office in the first phase of The Star to house the Cowboys’ headquarters and other tenants. And the team has just completed a 17-story office tower that will be the regional headquarters of Keurig Dr. Pepper is.
The next office tower will be near the luxury Twelve Cowboys Way apartment tower in the Star and Baylor Scott & White sports therapy center.
Hickman said construction on the new office tower will begin in the next week or so, with opening scheduled for early 2023.
“It will have a good view of the toll road,” he said.
Worthey Wiles and Jake Young from Lincoln Property are renting the building.
In addition to office space, the tower will have conference rooms and a 7,000 square meter tenant lounge on the second floor. And a restaurant is being considered for the ground floor.
The building’s tenants can also use the nearby Cowboys Club and Cowboys Fit fitness and exercise facilities.
“People love the club and the connection with the football team and all of our restaurants,” said Hickman. “The Star is a great development with mixed uses.”
