Now a Full-Fledged Texan, Cornelia Guest Shares Her Dallas It List
ANDIn our March 2020 issue, you may have seen Cornelia Guest moved to Dallas – yes, the ’80s it girl and Deb of the decade, Andy Warhol acolyte, actress, writer, designer, animal activist and social force. She did not fall far from the social branch of her parents, CZ and Winston Frederick Churchill Guest. At that time, during the COVID lockdown, she was looking for a ranch for weekend getaways and a home for her extended family that included dogs, lambs, donkeys, horses, birds (including a duck that follows her) and pretty ones almost every other creature that needed to be saved. We are happy to announce that she has purchased this retreat and that it is only a short drive from her home in Highland Park.
Now that she’s been a full-fledged Dallaserin for almost two years, we asked her what she discovered in our town – along with tips for the hordes of Californians who are immigrating to Texas in droves.
Wellness.
OhZone Medical: One of the greatest clinics I’ve ever been to. Lauren Snyder, the esthetician, is the best. I love the saunas, the PEMF mats and infusions. And Highland Park Spine & Sports Medicine: Dr. Mary Collings has magical hands.
Grange Hall (part flower shop, part boutique, part very good coffee shop) on Travis Street in the Knox District.
eat.
(By the way, the guest is an avowed vegan.)
Grange hall: Two words: shopping, lunch. A fabulous selection of beautifully curated things to buy and delicious food.
Georgie by Curtis Stone: This is my favorite meal for dinner. They have the best salads and the chef always makes me delicious plant-based foods. Never disappointed.
Belse restaurant: It’s all vegetable. Some of the best food I’ve ever had.
Dallas Farmers Market: I love to surf there. The Weekend Shed has fantastic products.

Veterinary care.
Integrative Veterinary Wellness: Dr. Smallwood and Dr. Leska took wonderful care of Lila and all of my dogs. They keep them in great shape. McWhorter Veterinary Acupuncture: Dr. Chaplin McWhorter comes into the house and is an exceptional acupuncturist. My four-legged family members are always very happy to see them.
Firing range.
Texas Gun Ranch in Rockwall: It’s a great place to shoot. You have five grandstands, numerous clay courts and constantly change goals.

Garden nursery.
Nicholson-Hardie Nursery & Garden Center: Talk about an Enchanted Garden. I love it there.
Cultural travel destination.
The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame: It commemorates many of the women who have inspired me all my life. I always wanted to be a cowgirl. Hopefully that dream will come true now that Texas is my home.
