TIWA Select takes over Big plates

For Alex Tieghi-Walker, the founder of the TIWA Select design gallery, 2021 will be the summer of entertainment. Last month, TIWA Select exhibited a range of mezcal mugs at the LA Showcase Sized, all of which were handcrafted by artists such as Jim McDowell and Minjae Kim. Now the gallery owner thinks bigger – in the truest sense of the word, as he and co-curator Fiona McKay record big plates where oversized plates rule. From August 5th to 7th in Stone Ridge, New York, the Big Plates will showcase two to four foot plates produced by artists such as Simone Bodmer-Turner and Deborah Needleman. Instead of showing the exhibition in a typical gallery setting, the curators are relying on nature: a forest next to a barn on McKay’s property in the hinterland is planned as an exhibition space.

In search of a space that truly reflected the brand, Yovanovitch tapped four galleries to curate the artwork hanging on bespoke, bright orange walls at Atelier Mériguet-Carrère. The showroom is only open by appointment.
