Plans approved for Terminal C transformation at Dallas Fort Worth Airport

Plans to renovate and expand Terminal C at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in Texas have been approved by the board.

The $ 2 billion project not only serves to modernize the 50-year-old facility, but also offers expanded gate capacities in Terminal C and Terminal A to cope with future growth.

“The aim is to convert Terminal C, which has been in operation at the airport since the early 1970s, into a modern terminal with the latest technologies and infrastructures,” says Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW Airport. “DFW takes into account the expected growth of our partner American Airlines and at the same time improves the customer experience to meet the needs of the modern traveler.”

DFW has several ongoing or recently completed infrastructure projects including the renovation of the High C Gates, the expansion of the Terminal D South Gates, the opening of a state-of-the-art integrated operations center, and the modernization and renovation of runways and taxiways. These projects have supported more than 4,000 jobs in the past 18 months.

The renovation work will be carried out in phases to minimize disruption and inconvenience for customers. The projects are expected to be completed in 2026 and update approximately 850,000 square feet of terminal space.
