Prost! to the Dallas restaurants and bars celebrating Oktoberfest 2021
Anyone who has ever been to Munich knows firsthand that the name Oktoberfest is misleading: the annual beer festival begins at the end of September. (Although there will be no Oktoberfest at all in Munich in 2021 because of the pandemic. They have more common sense than we in Texas.)
We may not have the German intelligentsia, but Dallas is rich in German heritage and that makes it our duty to do everything we can at Oktoberfest, raise a glass and make the event proud. In addition, all Oktoberfest events take place outdoors at the DFW. Take that, Germany.
Most Oktoberfest events at DFW start in mid-September, but a few early risers celebrate this week.

September 10
Fourth annual Oktoberfest celebration on Watters Creek. Presented by The Lion & Crown Pub, this is the fourth annual event of this craft beer festival with live music, traditional German dances, mug lifting and a handicraft market. Where: Village green. 16.-19. September
Addison Oktoberfest. The city of Addison’s annual Oktoberfest celebration has been named one of the most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations in the country by Forbes and USA Today. Four days of family-oriented entertainment draws more than 50,000 fans, with German food and the same Paulaner beer that is served in Bavaria. Dozens of polka bands and other traditional entertainers from across the country perform on multiple stages, including one in the party hall, a 30,000-square-foot, 1,500-seat open-air tent. Competitions include beer barrel rolls, a German Idol yodel competition, activities for children, unique shopping opportunities, and the ability to wear dirndls and lederhosen. Trucktoberfest. Truck Yard Dallas and The Colony, known for their unusual program, are holding their first Trucktoberfest with a lively range of activities for adults, children and dogs, such as a Stein Holding Contest, Viennese dog races, yodelling competitions and eating pretzels. Night owls are encouraged to put on traditional lederhosen and dirndls. True to tradition, the locally popular brew boss Dennis Wehrmann will tap the 200-year-old barrel of Truck Yard’s Trucktoberfest brew from his great-grandfather. September 18
Oktoberfest at Manhattan Project Beer Co. The Dallas Farmers Market Brewpub serves its own brewed Oktoberfest beer, as well as Doppelbock, Altbier, Fallout and Helles. Chef T. Ball will make a roast pork, pork sausage and side dishes. American Idol’s Alex Lambert will play in the beer garden at 4 p.m. Lucas Kelm will perform at 7 p.m. They open at 10 a.m., the party starts at 3 p.m., and the pig is ready by 5 p.m. Where: Dallas Farmers Market. September 18 – October 3
Oktoberfest at Meddlesome Moth. The Design District Pub will be celebrating Oktoberfest for two weeks from September 18 with special Oktoberfest kick-offs curated by beer director Matt Quenette. Dozens of Oktoberfest beers appear for the annual celebration, including offerings from Real Ale, Saint Arnold, Firestone Walker, Great Raft and Ayinger. Chef Joshua Boneé complements the beer experience with beef bangers and mash, smoked onion jus, potato aligot and caramelized cipollini onions as well as a cacio de pepe spaetzle with house guanciale, pink pepper and parmesan. 23-25 September
Oktoberfest Fort Worth. The city’s event is a family-friendly event with authentic German food, music, dance, games, shopping and beer gardens. Have fun watching the fur flying on the Dachshund Dash; shop for clothes, treats, and souvenirs on Markt Street; or experience an exhilarating ride halfway. Beer lovers can look forward to Spaten and other delicious autumn and Oktoberfest beers from all over the country. If you buy your ticket online by 11:59 p.m. on September 22nd, you will receive a free mug 2021; a limited number of free jugs are available for those who purchase tickets at the box office. Where: Panther Island Pavilion. Oktoberfest Downtown McKinney. The German is strong in McKinney, which has been hosting an Oktoberfest event since 2008. September 26th
“Lake-toberfest” in the Flying Saucer Draft Emporium. The Saucer celebrates Oktoberfest with its annual Lake Toberfest Festival, which offers tastings of a bevy of traditional, local and national Oktoberfest brews. Tasting cards can be purchased at the restaurant on Sunday for $ 25 and include 12 four-ounce toppings. The annual jug lifting competition starts at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., lederhosen and dirndls are the order of the day for the costume competition. October 2nd
10th annual Oktoberfest Dallas. Proceeds from this popular annual charity event go to the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, which returns the proceeds to the community in a variety of ways. They canceled 2020 but now it’s back with all day entertainment for the whole family including outdoor fun for the kids, local food, ice cream, drinks and amazing live music including Americana band Son Volt as well as Taylor Dunn , Vandoliers, Lake Highlands School of Music, and DeeJay CeePee / Christopher Todd Penn. 2-3 October
Frisco Oktoberfest. The city of Frisco joins the Oktoberfest fun with a weekend event on Frisco Square with fun and festivities, delicious beer, German cuisine and two stages with live entertainment. The celebrations begin with the opening ceremony on Saturday at 11 a.m. with a traditional tapping of the keg. The first visitors to arrive receive a free beer until the keg is tapped. Where: Frisco Square. When: October 2nd from 11am to 10pm, October 3rd from 12pm to 5pm. entry: USD 20 per sheet of 20 tickets; Tickets are required for all food and drink at the festival. $ 100 for the VIP beer garden includes access to the VIP tent and exclusive food and drinks.
