Lindsey Graham’s chosen hill to die is made of chicken
All of you, the people on the internet are very mean to Senator Lindsey Graham, R-SC. Once again. I mean what does this guy have to do to get some respect here? On July 14, Graham publicly took a bold and courageous stance rooted in widely held values. And instead of being praised as a hero, he is mocked.
No, he did not speak out in favor of a commission to investigate the January 6th terrorist attack in DC
No, he did not come out and urge people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and condemn the anti-Vax conspiracy theories as morally hideous and dangerous.
No, he did not break away from his party’s Trump-led grassroots base to declare that the 2020 elections were fair and that Donald Trump lost.
No, he did not demand that his party stop denigrating transgender people, especially transgender youth.
No, he didn’t say that climate change is real.
No, he did not advocate the right to vote and called on his party to throw democratic elections in the trash.
No, he didn’t speak out in favor of a minimum wage of $ 15.
No, he didn’t say Black Lives Matter.
No, he did not advocate protection against gun violence.
No, he didn’t advocate universal health coverage after the COVID-19 pandemic exposed critical loopholes in our already inefficient health system.
No, he did not come up with a plan to ensure the United States never gets into a pandemic again without a plan and with few resources.
No, he did not agree that we have to tax the richest people in the country to pay for programs that would dramatically increase the living standards of millions of Americans.
No, he didn’t say he was going to die for Chick-fil-A.
Oh wait – yes he said that. He definitely did the latter.
But SOMEONE has to die for Chick-fil-A in his defense. Because freedom?
Apparently, a Chick-fil-A is being considered as a new addition to Notre Dame Campus Dining and that has been rejected by the Notre Dame community. And this is where Graham draws the line.
On July 16, Graham tweeted, “It is disappointing to hear that some ND students and faculties are planning to ban Chick-fil-A from doing business on campus because they believe in the values of the Chick-fil-A founders do not agree. “
Graham doesn’t really need to weigh this issue as there are some urgent issues in this country that need immediate attention. But if he HAS to say something, it should have been. “That’s the tweet,” as they say.
But he ended that tweet with, “What a dangerous precedent to set.”
What dangerous precedent? What a DANGEROUS PRECEDENT to put?
WHAT DANGEROUS PRECEDENT ARE YOU FUCKING ME ?!
The Trump administration, which Graham fervently supported, was nothing more than dangerous precedent after dangerous precedent, which has taken this country further and further from its ideals, and its supporters STILL say “we need more dangerous precedents” on the way to the 2022 elections.
And HERE does Graham see danger? In a group of people using their first rights of amendment to protest a fast food restaurant whose owners have in the past financially supported anti-LGBTQ groups?
FFS.
Graham adds, “I want everyone in South Carolina and all of America to know that I have Chick fil-A back. I hope we don’t have to, but I’ll go to war for the principles Chick fil-A stands for. Great food. Outstanding service. Great values. God bless Chick fil-A! “
“I WILL GO TO WAR FOR CHICK-FIL-A.”
It’s quite a point of view. I mean, I’ve heard people say about Taco Bell, “I was going to die for a chalupa now,” or “I ate a chalupa and he killed me.” continued attempts to undermine democracy have made public statements about junk food shops.
I have never eaten Chick-fil-A in my life. I grew up in Michigan when Chick-fil-A didn’t exist. And now they are showing up, but I haven’t eaten meat in many years. So, I don’t know what the hype is about.
What I do know is that Graham is a great example of a Republican with no moral compass who has put the party above the hard core of the country since Trump. He is without courage. While he declared Trump “unfit for office” before the election, he now worships Trump as a deity.
That could be called a dangerous precedent. You could even call Graham the original chickenshit Senator.
