Queen Elizabeth II Advised to Rest for 2 Weeks – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Queen Elizabeth II has been advised to rest for at least the next two weeks and accept doctors’ advice to cut her busy schedule, Buckingham Palace said on Friday.
The 95-year-old monarch can continue to do light desk duties during this time – including some virtual audiences. However, she cannot travel for the Feast of Remembrance on Saturday, November 13th.
“However, it remains the queen’s firm intention to attend the National Memorial Service on Memorial Sunday, November 14,” the palace said, referring to an important event in the monarch’s annual calendar.
The decision comes just days after Elizabeth canceled her scheduled appearance at the UN climate change conference in Glasgow – a move that has dashed the hopes of the UK Conservative government eager to make the meeting relevant to the fate of the planet demonstrate. The climate conference runs from October 31st to November 12th and your participation should open it with style and glamor.
The news came after the Sovereign held a virtual audience at Windsor Castle on Tuesday – the first since revelations that her doctors had ordered her to rest last week. The Sovereign welcomed the ambassadors from South Korea and Switzerland at their first technology-assisted appearance since being driven to London’s King Edward VII’s Hospital for “preliminary examinations” on October 20th. She returned to her home in Windsor Castle at lunchtime the next day and has been taking on light duties ever since.
The Queen underwent medical tests after making a scheduled trip to mark the 100th. The matter did not relate to COVID-19.
