Report: Luka Doncic Expected to Miss Time as Mavs Face Suns and Clippers Next
The Dallas Mavericks have a crucial phase ahead of them and could do without their superstar Luka Doncic. The Mavs are currently sitting at 9-4, which is good for 3rd place in the Western Conference. The Mavericks have a brutal series of games ahead of them, with their next four games being two against the Phoenix Suns and two against the LA Clippers.
ESPN’s Tim McMahon reported that Luke’s ankle injury isn’t all that serious, but he’s likely to miss out on some time. While this is relatively positive news for Dallas, not having Luka for this upcoming season could be a blow to her position in the Western Conference earlier in the season.
The Mavericks are currently one game behind Phoenix and one game ahead of the Clippers. Because the NBA tries to restrict travel between teams by creating these miniseries, seasonal series can often be decided in a matter of days. For the Clippers and the Suns, this is an opportunity to hold their own against Dallas, who are planning to compete with them for home advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
While Doncic has struggled relative to his standards this season, he always seems to play well against the Clippers. There is no schedule for his return, which means he has yet to be excluded from these matchups, but it seems like a strong possibility that he may not be ready.
