Richardson Animal Shelter waives adoption fees for senior pets during November

For the entire month of November, animal adoption fees seven and over will be waived at the Richardson Animal Shelter. The campaign is in honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

Older pets often have to wait much longer than kittens and puppies to be adopted, according to a Facebook post from the shelter.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, adopting an older pet has some advantages over adopting a younger animal.

Here are the benefits that the organization lists:

  • Older pets don’t need constant monitoring and training like puppies and kittens.
  • Many older pets are already house trained.
  • As older pets are fully grown, you will be instantly notified of vital information such as personality type and grooming requirements, making it easy to choose the perfect pet for your family.
  • Since older pets have already grown into their personalities, they tend to be pretty laid back and set on their own way.

Those interested in adopting can visit this Richardson shelter page for more information or to make an appointment at the shelter.
