Sofia’s extensive background in business and community development uniquely enables her to approach and participate in special projects. Whether as the Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Dallas or helping individuals grow economically, she places great emphasis on serving others.
Sofia has found her way to support low to middle income families in the communities where she has served. She has mentored and advised teens by helping them get their GED and local jobs at various organizations such as Workforce Solutions of Greater Dallas, YMCA of Dallas, Boys and Girls Club, and the Dallas Bethlehem Center. She also created opportunities for seniors to get back into the business world and has partnered with the workforce from Tarrant County, Goodwill Industries, Family Gateway, and several other religious organizations.
Sofia’s gift of inspiring and building trust has made her successful by building alliances, partnerships and strong collaborations with various organizations that help women in business achieve great results. These include the Women’s Small Business Grant Program (SER MUJER – sponsored by Coca-Cola), Headstart and the Childcare Group of Dallas.
Sofia’s latest focus is on raising awareness and raising funds to end breast cancer. Her passion for helping women in low to middle income families carried over to her work at Susan G. Komen, allowing her to share her philosophy and intense desire to make change and help others. Sofia is currently working to improve the community she lives in by giving them the knowledge of healthy lifestyle and commitment to the community.
Sofia’s business achievements extend well beyond the confines of her local employment. Over the years Sofia has volunteered in numerous areas of her community including: The Texas State Aquarium, US Battleship Lexington, Corpus Christi Harbor, and the American Heart Association Go Red For Women & South Texas Heart Ball,
Overall, Sofia’s key competencies include the ability to partner with large companies to contribute by setting priorities in specific community programs, as well as the ability to negotiate and compromise.
Sofia’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Art in History with a minor in Spanish from Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas.
Sofia currently resides in Highland Village, Texas with her husband Anthony Sposato and their dog Sadie.
