SMU Dominates UCF 55-28 – D210SPORTS
DALLAS, Texas – SMU beats UCF 55-28 and moves to 7-2 for the season. The Mustangs were strong in all 3 phases of the game. Quarterback, Tanner Mordecai and the Mustangs’ high-power offensive set a school record with 36 first downs. Defense also had a big day with 7 sacks, 10 loss tackles and a turnover.
The Knights struck first, scoring an 18-yard pass touchdown from Mikey Keene to Ryan O’Keefe. The Mustangs agreed on the following possession, scoring a 15-yard pass from Tanner Mordecai to Grant Calcaterra. SMU controlled the rest of the first half and went into the break with 38:14.
The Mustangs kept the Knights under pressure in the 2nd half and maintained their clear lead the entire time. SMU head coach Sonny Dykes said he was proud of his team’s efforts and attention to detail.
The Mustangs travel to # 2 Cincinnati this weekend. Cincinnati is the American’s only undefeated team, so the Mustangs have a chance for an exciting surprise.
