Southwest Airlines Commits $10 Million To Yale University To Support Climate Change Initiatives
DALLAS, November 23, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced that $ 10 million Commitment to from Yale University Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) to research technological advances and find new solutions to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions. The commitment will also support research and education efforts at the Yale School of the Environment to examine the current state of sustainability, strategy, policy and economy, highlight trends related to the aviation industry, and explore new ways to reduce the to concentrate atmospheric carbon.

Established in March 2021 With initial funding from FedEx Corporation and inspired by natural processes, YCNCC is focused on strategies to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it safely in plants, soils, rocks and oceans. It also aims to develop industrial carbon capture methods to convert carbon dioxide into useful fuels, plastics, and building materials.
