Southwest Airlines employee found dead at Texas airport after apparent robbery: report

A 49-year-old man who was found dead in a parking lot at El Paso International Airport Friday night was identified as an employee of Southwest Airlines, according to a report.

The victim, whose name was not disclosed, was fatally shot in a robbery, El Paso’s KFOX14 reported.

The manhunt for a suspect lasted until the weekend after police made the worrying discovery, the station reported.

It is possible that more than one suspect was involved, the police told KFOX14.

Sam Rodriguez, the airport’s aviation director, made a statement regarding the crime.

“We are shocked and sad to hear of the tragic event,” said Rodriguez. “Our hearts and deepest condolences go to the victim’s family, Southwest Airlines and everyone else who has been affected by the incident.”

According to the broadcaster, the airport wrote on Instagram that flight operations were not affected by the incident.

The police ask anyone with information about the crime to call the investigators at 915-566-5477 or 915-832-4400.

Earlier this month, a Southwest Airlines employee was hospitalized after allegedly assaulted by a traveler while boarding a flight from Dallas to New York City. One suspect was later arrested.
