Dec 8 (Reuters) – Southwest Airlines (LUV.N) said Wednesday that it will be profitable in the fourth quarter as tourist traffic rebounds.
The airline had previously expected a loss for the quarter due to higher fuel prices.
The Dallas, Texas-based airline also expects its fourth quarter operating income to improve compared to previous estimates.
It now expects a 10-15% drop in sales compared to the previous forecast of a 15-25% drop.
The Southwest stock fell slightly in the pre-market trading.
