Sprawling new restaurant-bar with outdoor games opens in McKinney

Restaurants with expansive outdoor areas are all the rage in Dallas-Fort Worth, and now McKinney has one of his own: The Stix ice house is a new restaurant with bar and outdoor area that celebrated its grand opening this weekend in 301 Eldorado Pkwy.

It is a 14 acre complex that not only offers food and drinks, but also a nine-hole disc golf course, wiffle ball, corn hole, table tennis, swings, a tree house and a large space for events.

The Stix Icehouse is the vision of Don Day, downtown McKinney proponent, and food & beverage veterans Mike Luther and Rae Phillips-Luther (Jamba Juice, Zoe’s Kitchen, UP Inspired Kitchen).

“When I bought this 14-acre property with its magnificent mature trees a few years ago, I wanted to find a way to share it with the surrounding communities, families and friends,” Day said in a press release. “We decided on Stix.

Rae Phillips-Luther says her focus was on family friendliness.

“Inspired by some of our favorite Texas pubs and our love of food and family, my husband Mike and I wanted to create a fun, relaxed place where our community could hang out and connect with family and friends,” she says. “The Stix is a place for the WHOLE family – where children can run around safely and adults can enjoy good company.”

They are also promoting their profile as an event space for parties of all sizes.

“We will also play local musicians in the regular and athletic tournaments,” says Phillips-Luther.

American home-style cooking is on the menu, including:

  • Catfish and Chips

  • grilled bourbon salmon

  • Nachos

  • Citizens

  • Chicken Fried Chicken

  • Soups and salads

They also serve cocktails like the AppleMoon Magic Cocktail (moonlight with apple cider) and 24 beers on tap.

You’re not done yet, says Day.

“We have bigger plans on the horizon to activate all of the woodland, and I warmly welcome all McKinney, Allen, Fairview and the surrounding communities for some old-fashioned fun,” he says.

Opening times are Tuesday-Thursday from 3pm to 10pm, Friday-Saturday from 3pm to noon and Sunday from 3pm to 10pm; they are closed on mondays.
