NBC 5 is partnering with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas on a school supplies campaign to help students have what they need to succeed this school year. The mission of Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. The organization is one of the leading youth welfare organizations in North Texas and has a positive impact on nearly 6,000 children between the ages of 6 and 18. Their programs are geared towards the intellectual, physical and social needs of young people.
Programs are offered in three core areas to meet the diverse needs and interests of club members: Academic Achievement, Good Character and Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyle. This program is educational, fun, and helps build self-esteem.
In addition to meeting the needs of the children within its club walls, BGCD supports the most basic needs of members and their families, including food, clothing and school supplies.
