Texas A&M couple gets married — where else? — at an Aggies football game

Budding brides spend months, sometimes years, planning their fall wedding. Others consider the season to be the time to watch football matches on Saturdays. But what happens when you think of both?

That was the problem Morgan Meador faced. She knew her dream wedding on the day of a Texas A&M football game just wasn’t an option.

“It is almost a sin for my family to get married in the fall for college football. So you don’t get married on match days because we have to watch the aggie game. “

Meador came home from the hospital the day she was born with an Aggies romper on. Your connection with Texas A&M is deep. Her father is a die-hard Aggies fan and two of her brothers played on the university soccer team. She graduated from Texas A&M in 2014. She and her husband Rodney Oliver are die-hard Aggies fans.

The two met at a bar in Montgomery, Texas, where Meador worked in 2017. They connected immediately, she says. The next day they went out on their first date.

They moved to College Station in 2019 and got engaged last March.

They wanted a fall wedding so they got creative.

It took place at Kyle Field before kick-off on November 6, where the Aggies defeated Auburn 20-3.

On their wedding day, the couple was surrounded by about 30 of their closest friends and family members. The weather was perfect and the sky blue, not a single cloud in sight.

It wasn’t a typical wedding, but it was really planned and set up that way. There was an emotional walk down the aisle, a DJ played the couple’s favorite songs, delicious food, guests who were impressed, and Dos Equis drinks everywhere.

The Mexican beer company sponsored and helped plan the day. Meador and Oliver were selected as winners of the beer company’s Dos Become One: A Tailgate Love Story competition.

“As a brand with strong roots in college football, Dos Equis is committed to solving the age-old problem of weddings interfering with Football Saturday in the fall,” said Ashleigh Phelps, senior brand manager for the company.

Meador’s bridesmaids wore red dresses, while Oliver’s groomsmen wore suits and ties.

After their tailgate ceremony was over, the couple watched the football game filled with bleachers with friends and family.

Dos Equis had some surprises in store for Meador and Oliver, such as a ride in a hot air balloon and a ride in a classic El Camino, which is adorned with Dos Equis branding with “Just Married” on the rear windshield.

“I never dreamed it could be this great,” says Meador.

There was a catch – the couple only had two weeks to plan their dream wedding.

“Let me tell you that when you plan a wedding in such a short amount of time, you don’t have time to be stressed,” says Meador.

While Meador’s husband grew up in a UT Austin Longhorn household, she says she doesn’t blame him.

“As soon as he got to know me and somehow got to know me and knew how much I love the Aggies, we could get him on the Aggies side. And that’s why he tells everyone he got married, ”says Meador.
