Texas born cookie delivery service Tiff’s Treats is now worth $500 million

Tiff’s Treats cookie delivery service is now worth $ 500 million after closing a recent $ 30 million financing round, the Austin-based company announced today.

The company began in Leon Chen’s Austin apartment in 1999 when he and Tiffany started dating while studying at the University of Texas. In 2000, the founders moved into the first real kitchen space and have been opening locations across the country since then.

The second Tiff’s Treats location opened in downtown Dallas in 2006, and the company expanded outside of its home state for the first time in 2016. The company now has 70 retail distribution centers in the southern United States and employs 1,700 people. To date, more than $ 200 million warm biscuits have been sold.

The company plans to invest the raised US $ 30 million in further national expansion and development of its e-commerce platform.

“We continue to invest from the ground up in our on-demand gift and delivery platform direct to consumers, resulting in a premium gift and reception experience for customers,” said co-founder Leon Chen in a statement on Tuesday. “With our technology, we manage the entire delivery experience using our own delivery drivers and a dedicated in-house customer service team. We focus on our mission to connect people through warm moments. Warm biscuits are the vehicle, but our goal is much bigger. “

The company opened its 17th location in Kessler Park, near Dallas, in August. And the Chen’s are releasing their first book early next year, exploring the couple’s past two decades of entrepreneurship.

Tiff’s has invested a number of high-profile Texas personalities and celebrities in the company over the years, including former Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, Dirk Nowitzki and Kendra Scott.

“We are fortunate enough to be an integral part of some of the most important moments in people’s lives every day, and to fulfill our mission of connecting people through warm moments,” said Co-Founder and President Tiffany Chen.
