Texas Man Charged After Allegedly Killing Mother, Dismembering Body – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
A Harris County man was charged with murder and tampering with evidence after confessing to killing his mother and dismembering her body, according to a KPRC report.
Bail for 36-year-old Robert Barnes was set at $ 650,000 in a probable cause court on Friday – $ 500,000 for murder charges and $ 150,000 for evidence manipulation, according to KPRC.
Barnes confessed to shooting his mother, 72-year-old Lucila Barnes, several times before dismembering her body and placing it in a box he made a month earlier, KPRC reported.
Authorities told KPRC that they found the body of Lucila Barnes on Thursday at a residence in Cypress, northwest Harris County.

KPRC reported that as a condition of any bond, Barnes is instructed not to contact any of his family members. He must also hand in his passport and all other travel documents, and his travel will be restricted to Harris County and its adjacent counties.
Barnes will also be required to wear a GPS ankle monitor while under house arrest until his next court appearance, KPRC reported.
