Texas man held in shooting deaths of sister, her boyfriend

A Texas man was arrested Thursday on charges of murdering his sister and boyfriend, who were reportedly found shot dead in a house Wednesday night.

Police responded to the house in Plano after a family member asked for a social check-up who feared someone might be injured. Officers checked other addresses, including one in Richardson that the caller had given before they reached Plano’s home, FOX 4 reported in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Brittany Richards, 28, and Ross Escalante, 26, were both found dead by multiple gunshots. An adult relative with a mental disability living at the home was found unharmed elsewhere.

Blake Ryan Richards, 29, has been charged with capital murder and is being held on $ 1 million bond.

Investigators have no official motive but said a witness alleged Richards made violent comments in the past.

He was later arrested at a Target store in nearby Wylie, Texas, according to WFAA-TV in Dallas.

“All we know is someone else who was worried about this person,” said Plano policewoman Alexandra Cole, according to FOX 4. “And that person’s family called and wanted to inquire because they were worried about some previously made statements. ” about a possible injury or the like. So we just checked the wellbeing of everyone involved. “

After the shooting, a bullet was even found in a mailbox across the street from the house.

Neighbors said the shooting was a rarity in their quiet neighborhood.

“Surprised, scared and sad,” Neighbor Lap Phim told the broadcaster.
