The 10 Best Hot Chicken Sandwiches in Dallas

The hot wave of chicken has come. What remains are plenty of spicy sandwiches and slightly sweaty foreheads. To be honest, this is a trend that we’re pretty excited about. We’ve gone from a handful of spots to about two dozen places in just a year, and it’s high time we round up the best of these crackers.

In the case of Invasion, you actually have two options. The Nash-ty is technically their “Nashville-style” chicken sandwich, and it’s a beautifully hot mess topped with a flavorful sour cream ranch sauce and pickles. The Cardi B comes with a spicy special sauce and a pickled coleslaw and jalapeño mixture. Both are served on brioche rolls roasted in butter. And we ate both for a spicy chicken sandwich. This little East Dallas sandwich maker uses halal chicken, which some say tastes better and even gives way to a crispier skin and crunch.

One of our 100 best restaurants, 2 Neighbors, offers baskets of Nashville-style hot chicken in wings, nuggets, and chicken shapes. They also have catfish. But their whipped flat chicken breast sandwich with coleslaw and cucumber on a brioche bun is perfect. The heat here isn’t out to kill your taste buds. If you like it hot, order accordingly, but be sure to reach for a homemade banana pudding to put out any remaining flames.

Lucky’s is part of the Vandelay Hospitality Group, which includes East Hampton Sandwich Co., Drake’s Hollywood, and Hudson House. They opened their flagship location on Gaston Avenue in the fall of 2020 in the mid-century building where Norman Brinker had his first restaurant. They have another location in Highland Park with several other places on deck. Her goddamn lucky spice on her Big Lou sandwich with her homemade comeback sauce is a winner-winner chicken dinner. Don’t sleep on the Animal Fries, which come with melted cheese, comeback sauce, and jalapeño ranch. Then cool the whole thing down with a soft serve swirl.

This Lakewood spot was named Best Hot Chicken for its carefully crafted recipe. Founder Palmer Fortune lived in Nashville for 30 years and opened this place based on what he learned after eating those decades worth of sandwiches. The recipe for the fried chicken pays homage to Thorton Prince, the original creator of Nashville, and supposedly mimics the original recipe with no changes. Everything is made from scratch here, including side dishes, sauces and desserts. Palmer’s MotherClucker sandwich is served with fried breast meat with cucumber over allspice cheese. You can use a waffle for your bun. Beware of the napalm heat level, this is no joke.

Prior to opening her Roots Southern Table restaurant, chef Tiffany Derry opened this little shop in Plano’s Legacy Food Hall, serving duck-fat fried chicken and fries. The Spicy Bird is a beautiful sandwich topped with spiced kale and held together with a sweet potato bun. Jack cheese is fried with the chicken just before serving. Kimchi Mayo gives the flavor menagerie a punch. Remember, you can order in advance at the Legacy Food Hall, and we highly recommend it as Derry’s Spot usually has a line. And don’t miss the opportunity to eat the duck fat fries.

Hot Chicks just opened in Dallas, but they already have restaurants in Plano and Weatherford. This spot is owned by One Entertainment, which has other concepts including the popular Forth Worth Bar Texas Republic. The recently opened Hot Chicks on SMU Boulevard opened in parallel with a new Texas Republic. So you can go to the bar and order hot chicken. Hot Chicks, who only serve halal chicken, has a challenge offering a lucky person free chicken for a year if they can eat three of their Hot AF chicken tenders without a drink for 15 minutes. Everything is made in house here, including the coleslaw, hot sauce, and even the pickles. Watch out for hot chicken trash can fries they are working on for the new Dallas location.

Dave’s Hot Chicken comes straight out of a parking lot in East Hollywood. It has some street standing, however; the founder was trained in the French laundry by Thomas Keller. They now have restaurants in the US like Roots, they also have a kale salad and their own homemade sauce. Our own Danny Gallagher has tested the taste of its seven levels of heat, starting without spices, which offered crispy skin and juicy meat, to the reaper, whom he compared to a “spice ninja who crawls at you and just strikes” if you think you have conquered it. ”Proceed with caution. Or be brave, just order a milkshake with it.

Red Claws’ Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich: It’s a bit difficult to work with, but we promise you will find out.

We wrote about the hot chicken sandwich at the Red Claws Crab Shack back in June 2020. They started pushing those sandwiches out early in the tidal wave of red roasted birds. They also recently opened a Red Claws Hot Chicken in Fort Worth, but their form-fitting Nashville hot chicken sandwich is still on the menus of their crab stalls in Dallas and Arlington. The thick, crispy dark red crust envelops a juicy breast that is topped with a vinegar salad to put out the fire. To ease the persistent heat, they sell shaken mixed drinks like Mai Tai, Blue Lagoon, and Swamp Juice.

Jason and Carlee Smith opened FireHouse Gastro Park a few years ago after moving to Grand Prairie (Carlee’s hometown) from Los Angeles. Before leaving the West Coast, however, they enlisted chef Zaida Johnson, whom they had met through her work in event planning in Hollywood, to help them open this restaurant. And we’re all better for it. Not only is this restaurant, bar, coffee house, and outdoor music venue a bustling place to spend an afternoon or two, but Johnson’s Nashville Bird Chicken Sandwich is well worth a trip to downtown GP on its own. You can also order this sandwich as a giant pile of fries to share with your friends.

When Sloane’s Corner first opened, the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich was a dish of the day, but it has since been added to the regular menu. Thank God. A homemade brioche bun is toasted with butter on a flat top before the buttermilk fried chicken is topped with Fresno peppers, cucumber, and aioli. This sandwich is unique because Chef Ji Kang uses the Togarashi seven-spice blend in the mix. It’s easy and great.

Continue. Roll your eyes. But the economy also plays a role. At Popeyes, you can support a small family for $ 20. And their spicy chicken sandwiches are on point; much better than the ubiquitous tired chicken patties you find at other fast food restaurants. For $ 3.99 each, this is the best spicy chicken sandwich deal anywhere.
