The 10 Best Things To Do In Dallas This Week (7/12-7/18)

Pretend you’re speaking French for a day in Oak Cliff, catch Lady A suddenly waking up in Fort Worth, solve your favorite wrestler on a pay-per-view, and more

We may all have become familiar with the feeling of a maskless lifestyle in the past few weeks, but have we abandoned our vigilance too soon?

Listen, we’ll be the first to admit we’re bewitched by the return of events – free concerts included! – in town lately, but the truth is the pandemic is not over yet. And things could take a turn for the worse in the face of the latest COVID-19 virus mutation.

Seriously: The threat posed by the Delta variant is so great that the Olympic organizers have declared that there will be no spectators at the Games this summer.

So how do we stay safe while enjoying this summer?

The simplest answer is simple: get your ass vaccinated.

Health experts say the Delta variant will hit the states with the lowest vaccination rates the hardest. And while this strain may actually be COVID-19 on steroids, the good news is that vaccines have been shown to be effective at reducing infections, so the risks are less of concern for those who have already been stung.

To that end, if you’ve already been stung, there’s a whole life in and around Dallas this week.

Here are the best options.

Monday (December 7th)

Grease (1978) singing along at the Rooftop Cinema Club in the Dallas Heritage Village
Fatter, keep the pomade handy. And all of you pink ladies? Take off the poodle skirts. This offering is a 50’s turnaround not to be missed. Tell your friends about it, you big stallion.

Wednesday (7/14)

Bastille on Bishop
Regardless of the pandemic years, the Oak Cliff entertainment district celebrates this French holiday annually with an open-air celebration around a market with all the usual offerings of the district – but this time outside and with more horizontally striped T-shirts and berets. Laissez les bons temps rouler!

Thursday (7/15)

Shinyribs in Lava Cantina (The Colony)
Kevin Russell was once the front man of the popular Austin band The Gourds, but today he covers “Gin & Juice” under his own solo name.

Pancake & Liquor Art Exhibition at Deep Ellum Art Co.
If the all-you-can-eat pancakes aren’t enough, this Deep Ellum exhibition promises to present around 750 works of art.

Sebastian Masiscolco in the Toyota Music Factory Pavilion (Irving)
During a two-night stand (he’ll perform here on Sunday too) in North Texas, the loudmouthed comic promises to wow the idiots with its outrageous, family-centered comedy.

Banda ms at Dos Equis Compaq
This award-winning Mexican group may have a changing list of artists in their huge ranks, but their devotion to upbeat and catchy Corridos, Cumbia, Bachata and Merengue styles never changes.

Sunday (7/18)

WWE Money in the Bank at the Dickies Arena
The still fairly new Fort Worth arena welcomes WWE – for the first time ever – to this Sunday night pay-per-view event that precedes WrestleMania’s return to North Texas in 2022.
