The Best Holiday Pop Ups at Dallas Restaurants and Bars

Ready or not, the Christmas cheer has arrived and you can find seasonal spirits and foods to keep things festive in several pop-ups across Dallas. Most of them are already well underway, and as the holiday season goes by, make sure you check them out in a hurry.

Miracles at Royal 38

2301 N. Akard Str., Suite 210 (Victory Park)
November 12th – December 31st

The stockings will be hung by Miracle for another year at Royal 38, with Christmas cocktails amid exaggerated Christmas decorations. Miracle is the pop-up that was once run by sister company HIDE Bar, and there’s both new and familiar frivolities here. Drink a Christmapolitaner with vodka, elderflower, wormwood, cranberry, lime, rosemary and absinthe or the Yippie Ki Yay (you know the rest) with Barbados rum, Rhum Agricole, Trinidad Overproof Rum, Ube and coconut orgeat and pineapple.

If you’re in the mood for a hot drink and aren’t afraid of ending up on the naughty list, try Bad Santa with rum, seasoned butter, oat milk, and nutmeg. That actually sounds nice.

The Miracle pop-up will also take place at the Aussie Grind in Frisco and Nickel City Fort Worth. Visit the pop-up’s website for hours and details on these activations. The opening times are from Monday to Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to midnight.

This is a tropical Christmas pop-up at a midwest dive bar in Deep Ellum. If this feels like thematic whiplash, don’t worry. You will feel better after a few cocktails.

Try the Kris Kringle Colada, Christmas Eve of Destruction with rum, nutmeg syrup, herbal liqueur, lime and aromatic bitters or a White Russian Christmas with cold brew, vodka, condensed milk, ancho chili liqueur and cinnamon syrup.

The pop-up is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. After Thanksgiving, hours are Monday and Tuesday. Visit their website or Instagram for more information.

Miracle of the trade in Adolphus

1321 Commerce Street (Downtown Dallas)
November 17th – January 29th

Only in Texas could you toast s’mores by a fireplace next to a rooftop swimming pool surrounded by igloos. And only at The Adolphus can you enjoy this winter wonderland that will make you believe in the magic of Christmas while you grab a seat at the bar or reserve a cabana (converted into a log cabin) or an igloo.

At a media event, we tried the Nutcracker Chili (a traditional variant of Frito Pie) and Chris Kringle’s Loaded Chips with Texas brisket, blue cheese cream, pickled jalapeño, tomato and spring onion on homemade kettle chips. Other offerings include Señor Santos Tamale Bites and Merry Mac and Cheese Balls – fried macaroni and cheese balls, marinara, parmesan and basil.

Of course there are s’mores for two to four people and churros with chocolate sauce and peppermint. There is a full wine, beer and cocktail menu. The Honey Bear Eggnog is made from Maker’s Mark, dark rum, farm egg, cream and nutmeg and served in a smiling honey bear container. Santa’s Snapshot is made from gingerbread syrup and rumple mint.

The roof terrace is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. There is acoustic live music on Wednesdays, on Thursdays at Ugly Sweater competitions in December and live DJs on Fridays and Saturdays in Not-So-Silent Nights. Visit the Adolphus website to view the full menu of snacks and cocktails and to make reservations.
