The Day – Jonquel Jones leads Sun past Wings 80-59
Arlington, Texas – Jonquel Jones had 19 points and 15 rebounds to help the Connecticut Sun beat the Dallas Wings by 80:59 on Sunday.
Brionna Jones scored 16 points, DeWanna Bonner had 14 points and four steals, and Jasmine Thomas added 12 points and four steals for Connecticut (15-6).
The Sun finally took the lead when Jonquel Jones layup about three minutes into the game and used an 18-6 run to come up to 28-14 early in the second quarter.
Connecticut, which lost to Seattle in the Commissioner’s Cup title game in Phoenix on Thursday night, has won three WNBA regular season games.
Brionna Jones added seven rebounds and shot 66.6 percent off the field and was 4 for 4 from the free throw line. The Sun, as a team, were 7 out of 8 off the line.
Arike Ogunbowale led the wings (9-13) with 20 points. Dallas has lost four in a row and five of the last six.
Connecticut is hosting the Minnesota Lynx twice this week. The Lynx are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Both games start at 7pm. Tuesday’s game is on NESN Plus and Thursday’s game is on NESN.
