This custom contemporary Dallas home was updated by the original architect
Do you fancy something modern or contemporary? This 4,771 square foot home was custom built and is the work of Dallas architect Michael Malone. It has clean lines, natural light, and lots of expansive walls for future owners to display art.
Compass listing agent Tom Hughes said the house’s quality and craftsmanship set it apart.
“Every time you get an architect house it makes a huge difference in the end product,” said Hughes.
The home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and two half baths on 0.48 acres.
The formal living room and dining room are near the front of the house. In both rooms, natural light penetrates through the large windows. Hughes said that all of the windows in the house are made of storefront glass, which is thicker than the glass used in most homes.
The house was specially built in 2004 for the original owners. Malone was brought back in 2017 to help the sellers, who are the second owners of the house, reconfigure some rooms and keep the design intact. The most important change, Hughes said, was adding new cabinets and countertops throughout the house.

In the kitchen you can see the updated designs. The cabinets have a sleek look and the countertops are made of natural quartzite stone. The kitchen has two islands, a bar area and a breakfast nook. It looks out onto the back yard through large windows. Next to the kitchen is a den with a fireplace in the middle which is great for the family or guests to relax in in a more casual setting.
The two bedrooms of the house are on the first floor. The second level has a flexspace, which is currently used as an office, and half a bathroom. Hughes said the office could easily be converted into a third bedroom.
Outside there is a pool with a unique design. In the middle of the pool sit basalt stones from Montana and form an artistic addition. The house has a covered terrace with an outdoor grill and there are green areas for playing or for pets. The entire property is surrounded by a gate that offers privacy and security.
The house at 9191 Manchester Drive in Dallas is priced at $ 2,795,000.
