This North Texas city is one of the most culturally diverse in the country, study says

North Texas is home to one of the most culturally diverse cities in the country, according to a new study.

Irving is the second most diverse city in the United States, according to Finder Personal Finance website. Factors of cultural diversity included gender, race, ethnicity, age, language, place of birth, and citizenship of the residents.

Using U.S. census data, Finder examined cultural diversity, household diversity, and socioeconomic diversity to compile a list of the most diverse – and least – diverse cities in the country.

Overall, Irving was named the 21st most diverse city, with Arlington 45th and Garland 48th. Other North Texas cities included Dallas (57), Fort Worth (68), Denton (125), and Plano (132).

The study did not take into account religion, sexual orientation or gender identity due to a lack of data, said Finder.

This is not the first time Irving has been recognized for diversity. Real estate website Trulia has named Irving ZIP Code 75038 the most diverse neighborhood in the United States

In 2019, the population of Irving was approximately 22% White, 42% Latino, 14% Black or African American, and 20% Asian, according to the US Census. The city is particularly known for a thriving Indian-American population and a hub of Indian and Asian restaurants and grocery stores.
