This stately 4-bedroom home in University Park is a mesh of old and new
The house at 3611 Milton Avenue was built in 2009, but it has a decidedly historic appeal. The listing agent Dan Rhodes from Compass calls the design style of the house in his listing report “Jacobean Manor Architecture”. He said the style was “a twist on the real classic elements”.
“It’s not just your standard English Tudor,” said Rhodes, adding that the house has a traditionally English looking exterior with some Italian touches like the round archways inside.
So if you’re looking for something stately and historic, but without the potential challenges of an older home, then this four bedroom, four bathroom, three half bathroom home might be for you.
The foyer of the house has high ceilings, natural light and a formal living and dining room on either side. Next to the dining room is a wet bar, an element many hosts appreciate for the ease it adds to entertainment. If you step a few steps further into the house, a striking spiral staircase takes you to the upper level.
The 7,297 square meter house has some elements with a historical flair – an elaborate fireplace mantle in the two-story family room, ironwork on the banister and along the upper wind tunnel as well as moldings throughout the building. The family room of the house has a fireplace as well as a built-in bookcase that houses a television.

The room is somewhat open to the kitchen – thanks to large, arched doors and a wall cutout between the kitchen sink and the family room. The kitchen has a center island, plenty of counter space, built-in cabinets on the walls for storage, and a contrasting, warmer wooden cabinet that hides the refrigerator. On one side of the kitchen there is a breakfast room which is accessible from the family room.
The master suite and a guest suite are on the first level of the house. The main suite offers enough space for a sitting area as well as a bathroom with two sinks and a separate bathtub and shower – all made of warm wood. There is also a study on the ground floor.
The two remaining bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the second level. There’s also a game room with a half bathroom and an unfinished media room with another half bathroom, as listed.
The home sits on 0.32 acres and has a deck, outdoor fireplace, grill, refrigerator, ice maker, and half a bathroom for outdoor entertainment. There is also a detached two car garage with a full guest suite above it.
The house is on the market for $ 5,500,000.
