Thousands Expected at Thanksgiving Food Distribution – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Thanksgiving is still days away, and families in need of help getting food to the table can find it Thursday morning at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank launches their Thanksgiving Mega Mobile Market at 8am. It is estimated that the market will serve 3,000 to 5,000 families.

With all the talk of higher food prices and scarcity, the food bank is committed to bringing as many turkeys to the table as possible.

“We made a decision to make sure our community receives turkeys. So we bought turkeys. We used part of our donation to buy turkey, ”said Juliet Butner, President and CEO of TAFB.

While there won’t be turkeys for all, other donors have stepped up with thousands of chickens.

“This year, with the supply chain challenges that we have had and that we can still tackle with our donors and corporate sponsors, it is just a great thing to see that we have another year of people in need who can run out there and feed their families, “said Mitchell Ward, owner of Dallas-based logistics company MW Logistics. Ward is a great partner of TAFB and the North Texas Food Bank, which will be hosting their big Thanksgiving distribution on Saturday.

NTFB will be hosting a distribution this Saturday, November 20th, from 9am to 12pm at UNT Dallas. Chickens and other non-perishable foods are provided for preparing your holiday meals. Please share to spread the word! pic.twitter.com/9WmJDnc75q
