Troy Hanson Joins Dallas Market Center as Senior Leasing Director, Design, and New Business Development

The Dallas Market Center announced that Troy Hanson has joined the company in the new position of Senior Leasing Director, Design and New Business Development.

Hanson is responsible for strategic merchandising, prospecting and leasing of the design districts in the Dallas Market Center, which include showrooms in the World Trade Center and Interior Home + Design Center. He reports to Joan Ulrich, EVP Leasing.

Home decoration and design are the most active year-round industries in the Dallas Market Center, backed by the larger national design community as well as an exceptionally strong housing market and cities with historic residential growth. The marketplace welcomes thousands of design customers each month, including a record number of new buyers in 2021, who do business and attend design events such as Dallas Design Week and Total Home & Gift Markets.

Most recently, Hanson was the co-founder, director, and producer of the WestEdge Design Fair in Santa Monica, California. WestEdge is an innovative international B2B and B2C trade fair within the high-end architecture and design community. Over a period of eight years, he helped turn all aspects of the event into a high-profile, internationally recognized design event. Prior to WestEdge, Hanson was Director of Leasing and Producer for Merchandise Mart Properties (now The Mart) from the company’s New York office. In that position, he was responsible for launching the Architectural Digest Design Show, including leasing, sponsorship, and philanthropic affiliation. In a previous position at George Little Management (now Emerald Expositions) he was Show Manager for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF).

During the 2020-2021 period, the Dallas Market Center hosted a number of in-person events and trade shows including Total Home & Gift Market, Total Home & Gift Open Houses, Lightovation, and Dallas Design Week that served tens of thousands of shoppers from coast to coast. The number of new buyer applications for the Dallas Market Center is up 50% compared to 2019.

Recent exhibitor additions to the marketplace include Porch View Home, ProSource, Couture Lamps, Shona African Sculptures, Susan Sales Fine Art, MetColors, Kelly Butler Home, Benjamin Moore, Synergistic Furniture Designs and Hinges. Extensions include Pasha, Unique Loom, Park Hill, and C Maddox.

The Dallas Market Center will host the Total Home & Gift Open House with select exhibition spaces from August 24-27, followed by September events such as Dallas Design Week from September 20-23; ArchLIGHT Summit, 21.-22. September, a new lighting trade show and educational platform for the architecture, specification and design community; and Total Home & Gift Market, 22.-24. September.
