Unique Pop-Up Art Installation Is ‘Reminder’ Holiday Season is Here – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
The shops on Park Lane in Dallas are decorated for the holidays, but you need to peel the layers off to enjoy the new pop-up art installation called “The Kringles”.
“They go shopping and just walk past something and it catches their eye,” said artist Kary Cooper. “We are very careful to say ‘sticky notes’ as opposed to brand names.”
Cooper and fellow artist Shaun O’Keefe are colleagues in an architecture firm. The duo used sticky notes to create an Andy Warhol-inspired art installation called “The Kringles” measuring 10 1/2 by 10 1/2 feet.
“It’s not a banana nailed to a wall,” said O’Keefe. “But we’re trying to shape something that a lot of people have been looking at.”
‘The Kringles’ is the couple’s biggest piece to date. It sits outside the shops at Park Lane.
“We used about 5,500 sticky notes,” said O’Keefe. “It’s more like graffiti.”
That means the art should be temporary. The artist hopes it will leave a lasting impression.
“I think to inspire people and hopefully brighten their day a little,” said O’Keefe. “Public installations are really a great way to reach people who don’t go out looking for art.”
‘The Kringles’ will be in stores at Park Lane until the end of December.
