Wildly popular Nashville hot chicken chain reveals first Houston spot

One of the most famous Nashville Hot Chicken producers in the US has finally revealed its Houston plans. Hattie B’s hot chicken will open in The Heights in mid-2023.

Granted, it takes a long time, but Hattie B’s has a reputation for serving up delicious chicken. Founded and operated by the father-son duo Nick Bishop, Sr. and Nick Bishop, Jr., the restaurant serves tenders, sandwiches, and bone-in chicken in five different spice levels: Southern (no heat), mild, medium, hot, and signature Shut the cluck up.

Cool things down with homemade side dishes and southern-style desserts like allspice mac-and-cheese, kale, french fries, banana pudding, and peach cobbler. Houston’s beverage offering includes both craft beer and draft cocktails.

“Houston is a great food city and while it has taken some time we found the right place and are excited and humble to bring our little slice of Nashville to the vibrant community of The Heights,” Bishop, Jr. said in a statement.

One reason for the delay is that Hattie’s B decided to build a completely new building from scratch. The 3,800 square foot restaurant is located at 1808 N. Shepherd Dr. and was designed by the well-known Texan company Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. There will be a spacious wraparound deck and seating for 175 people, the area that will feature cornhole and other games.

Opening at N. Shepherd, Hattie B’s is in close proximity to Mico’s Hot Chicken, the food truck restaurant considered by many to be Houston’s finest local chicken vendor. It will also be across the street from La Lucha, which also serves pretty tasty Southern Fried Chicken.

Hattie B’s has locations in Nashville; Birmingham, Alabama; Memphis; Atlanta and a food hall in Las Vegas. The first location in Texas will open in Dallas next year.
