Mission statement
The Wilkinson Center is transforming the lives of families in Dallas by providing avenues for self-sufficiency with dignity and respect.
2021-2022 goals
Pantry2Go Truck: Serve 6,000 people and provide families in schools and senior communities with over 345,000 meals over the next three years.
Adult Education: Resume in-person tuition in multiple locations while continuing to offer virtual classes.
Test Center Expansion: Increase the operation of the center to allow more customers to earn their certifications.
Youth Skills Initiative: Supporting young people with education and employment services to equip them with the skills they need to be self-employed.
Areas served
Wilkinson Center serves Dallas County. The majority of our customers live in southeast Dallas, West Dallas, and Oak Cliff, where many non-high school residents and far too many live below the poverty line.
Fundraising events
Can do! Lunch: This annual lunch celebrates entrepreneurship in philanthropy and the “can do” attitudes of the individuals and groups who make a difference in our community.
Spirit of Taos: Friends of Wilkinson Center, our volunteer support group, is hosting this evening soiree in the Southwest with dinner, live music, and auctions.
Volunteer Opportunities
The Wilkinson Center volunteers are vital to the organization’s success. Volunteers serve in the food pantry, conduct mock interviews with adult learners, support ESL students with conversational English skills, give presentations for our seniors, distribute school supplies and toys and much more! Visit wilkinsoncenter.org for information on all of the volunteer opportunities.
Donation opportunities
On North Texas Giving Day and every day, the Wilkinson Center helps families facing life challenges – food insecurity, economic instability, unemployment, and more – by providing services that focus on groceries, emergency services, human resources programs, and financial literacy.
