Come to Dallas for the 2021 State Fair of Texas!
An editorial by Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller

It’s State Fair time and I hope to see you all in Dallas!
Prepare for 24 days of All Things Texan at the State Fair of Texas 2021. COVID may have closed its gates in 2020, but we are on the right track for a powerful comeback this year and it is expected to be better than ever. With a wide variety of family-friendly activities to choose from, the State Fair is expected to bring more than 2 million visitors to Fair Park in Dallas – that’s a lot of Texan size!
Folks, it’s no secret that Texans make the best things in the world and our GO TEXAN partners are here to prove why the only label better than Made in America is Made in Texas. Every year, the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN program hosts its largest outreach event of the year in the GO TEXAN Pavilion at the State Fair of Texas. The 25,000-square-foot building promotes everything to do with Texas agriculture and is home to a large general store that’s filled to the brim with GO TEXAN products made right here in the Lone Star State. Trade show visitors can try a wide variety of products – from soaps and salsa to boots and BBQ sauces – there’s nothing you can’t find!
In 2019, GO TEXAN general store sales were over $ 400,000. This is a record in our 40-year presence on the exhibition grounds and I like to call that a home run! When you support Texan businesses, you support the whole state. So make sure you bring your appetite with you and swing by the GO TEXAN pavilion during your stay at the State Fair.
I always say the future of agriculture depends on our youth, and we owe a round of applause to the dedicated folks at the State Fair for giving young farm leaders the opportunity to excel and excel. Children across Texas will showcase their hard work and talent in over 46 different cattle competitions.
The State Fair of Texas is currently awarding $ 6,000 grants to selected applicants who have participated in certain competitive youth cattle events at the State Fair. Scholarships are awarded to applicants who have completed high school in Texas, preferably applicants enrolling in a college or university in Texas for an agricultural or agronomically beneficial science curriculum. Since 2014, nearly $ 4.4 million has been given out to young livestock fellows – this is my kind of investment in the future of Texas.
Folks, the State Fair of Texas is definitely worth a trip to Big D. So take part! I’m going to be in Dallas for the State Fair, and so should you. Plan your participation in the state fair at any time from September 24th to October 17th.
