SALT LAKE CITY – (BUSINESS WIRE) – International law firm Dorsey & Whitney LLP announced today that Todd Chelius has joined the firm as a partner in the Tax Group in Salt Lake City.
Todd joins Dorsey from Amazon in Seattle, Washington, where he has served for the past six years as a federal tax attorney and a member of the M&A Tax / Federal Tax Planning, Tax Controversy, and International Tax Planning teams. Todd negotiated tax and legal aspects of Amazon’s loan agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate investments. He regularly and frequently oversaw projects with cross-functional and international teams.
Prior to joining Amazon, Todd served as a transaction tax attorney with Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP in Dallas, Texas from 2011-2015. His main areas of activity were the negotiation and structuring of legal and tax aspects of transactions for private equity funds and listed technology companies – often with significant international components. Todd has also conducted energy transactions and has extensive expertise in partnership tax, corporate income tax, taxation of financial products, and international taxes (including international tax treaties).
Todd holds a BS from Brigham Young University and a JD / LL.M. from the University of Miami School of Law and an LL.M. Taxes, taxes from New York University School of Law.
