Fall is Booming Business for Dallas Mom – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth
Heather Torres has been decorating her Dallas home for fall for the past decade. Last year, months after the pandemic, when the kids were back to school, she started a business based on her passion for decorating her house to be a home.
“It really came up with something to make people happy this fall,” said Torres. “I know several neighborhoods that didn’t even eat trick or treating last year.”
Torres founded Porch Pumpkins, a concierge service that transforms gardens from summer to fall with pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, colors and sizes.
“I think pumpkins only show the start of the holiday season,” said Torres. “It just makes you smile when you drive home and see those pumpkins.”
Torres had around 250 orders last year. This year her business has more than doubled and she has a waiting list of 300 potential customers. She had to hire help delivering pumpkins and designing gardens.
“Everything is bigger in Texas,” said Torres of her success. “Pumpkins are the symbol of Halloween and Thanksgiving, a time to be with friends and family, and I hope it makes them smile!”
