Letters to the Editor – Rowlett bar, leaving Texas, over-development in Dallas, teen birth rates
Only halfway there
Re: “Couple asked to leave the bar where the owner says masks are not allowed – wife, husband asked to remove face coverings or leave. Can the owner do that? ”Tuesday Metro & Business History.
A Rowlett bar and grill deny entry to people wearing masks. The next logical step: in order to be served, customers must provide evidence that they are not vaccinated.

Move? Under no circumstance
Subject: “Simple Solution Here,” by Steve Gandy, Tuesday Letters.
Gandy suggests that anyone who doesn’t like the situation in Texas should move. Big chance.
I am a sixth generation Texan who will not post a sign for sale in my yard, but will post a sign promoting any candidate who challenges the nefarious politicians who made this once proud state a mockery of the nation.
The total hypocrisy of the current leadership of this state is more than despicable. Pass draconian abortion laws, but feel free to spread a deadly disease. No evidence of electoral fraud, but some of the toughest laws passed to address a non-existent electoral problem. A failing network system that has contributed to more than 200 deaths but does not provide a meaningful solution to the problem.
Mr Gandy, I would suggest that if you enjoy living in a police state environment that much, you should consider Russia or China as your new home. Good Trip.

Who exactly should go?
After reading Gandy’s letter. I did some internet research and found that this is not the first time he has advised people to leave if they don’t like something about what’s going on in their city or state. As far as I know, it’s okay to have an opinion on a concern, and moving isn’t a real solution.
But if he really believes it, maybe he should move, because another letter from him shows that he is not satisfied with the bike and hiking trails in Dallas. Surely another city would suit his needs.

Just go west
Amen to Gandy’s advice to the people who believe Texas is so bad – put up a sale sign and move to another state. As a follow-up, I would suggest California!

Why ruin old neighborhoods?
Subject: “Housing project planned for West Dallas – 146 additional units, parks and green spaces will be built in the thriving neighborhood”, Tuesday Metro & Business Story.
Are we developing another neighborhood of Dallas over and pricing it out of the reach of average people? Yes, that’s exactly what happens. There is already a housing monstrosity tarnishing this old neighborhood. When will this city wake up and stop the developers from dumping beautiful neighborhoods into the ground? It never seems.

We need to empower young people
Everything is bigger in Texas, including teenage birth rates. At the national level, Texas ranks 9th for birth rates among 15-19 year olds. This trend is a by-product of abysmal comprehensive sex education (CSE) and access to contraception – they are virtually non-existent – and leaves little to our future generations Support.
We send our young people to driver training and we make sure they buckle up so they feel safe and prepared when they hit the road. So why shouldn’t we empower these people to feel the same about their reproductive health? CSE and accessible contraception result in later onset of sexual activity, healthier relationships, stronger and more effective contraceptive use, and a lower rate of teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections.
Lack of access to contraception does not reduce an adolescent’s engagement in sexual activity, but leaves them vulnerable to life-changing outcomes for generations – teenage mothers are less likely to graduate from high school and their children are more likely to experience health problems. Encourage your representatives to support laws that allow young people to wear all of their seat belts, like Texas House Bill 3369.

Several questions raised
Re: “Troubled Trend – Teens Guns Mingle for Another Deadly Night at Deep Ellum,” Tuesday editorial.
Everything about this editorial is tedious. Can a follow-up story be written with answers to my questions?
I would like to know if there is a curfew violated by one of these teenagers.
I want to know who received the guns and who the guns are registered with.
I would like to know whether the 18- and 19-year-olds are registered for selective service.
And I would like to know where the younger teenagers’ parents are.
When my kids were 15, I knew where they were all the time, and hanging out on the streets of downtown Dallas was out of the question. In my opinion, the parents / guardians of all these children should also be held accountable and punished. Please keep track of this and share the rest of the story with citizens.
