ON The dream came true for Marshall-born and award-winning beautician Tiffiny Fields when she celebrated the opening of her very own Oh My Glamorous “OMG” Hair Studio with a special ribbon cut last Sunday at 3008 Gilmer Road, Suite 102, Longview.
Fields has been a pro for 11 years and said opening her own salon was a dream come true.
“My dream has always been to open my own hair salon,” she said. “Fortunately, I lived in a small suite for 10 years because I waited for God to move me. And people always said to me, ‘Why don’t you have your own hair salon? You really should have your own hair salon. ‘ But I told them that if God says it, if God moves me, then I get it. “
“So 10 years later I’m here at the OMG Hair Studio because God is directing my path; and if God is leading your way, you are on the right path, ”Fields said. “It’s not when people say you have to get it; it is when god says. That way I won’t fail because God is behind me. “
After years of hard work and patience, she is pleased to have severed the ribbon on her first commercial property and her first OMG Hair Studio LLC.
A host of family members, friends, coworkers, clients and supporters joined Fields on Sunday as a presenter counted down the countdown to their much-anticipated cutting of the tape. When the host first greeted them at the OMG Hair Studio, the attendees came to the cheerful lyrics by Frankie Beverly and Maze, “You Make Me Happy”.
Bringing a smile to customers’ faces and making them happy is exactly what Fields inspires.
“You know, it’s not about money for me; It’s about creating a smile, making others happy and also instilling in them the gift that God has given me, ”she said.
“The most rewarding thing for me is to see how a person feels … to see how they feel inside,” she beamed. “You come in with a bad day, but you leave here with a great feeling.”
Field’s interest in the hair profession was piqued as a child.
“As a little girl, I played with dolls all the time, and I cut their hair and tried to stick a curling iron in their hair. My mother knew immediately that I would be good with hair, ”she chuckled. “When I was a teenager in high school I did my girlfriend’s hair and when I did her hair I saw that this was love; I am good at it; I can earn money with that. So it all started as a little boy. “
Since the beginning of her career as a licensed beautician and professional hairdresser, Fields has had great success with her gift. Known in the industry as a “Tiffiny Thee Glam Stylist,” she is a repeat winner of the Texas International Hair and Expo, held annually in Dallas. In 2019 she was declared the Texas International Hair and Expo Live Bob Competition Champion 2019.
“I’ve been in hair shows for years and every year I’ve always placed,” Fields said. “I was always second and third and 2019 was my first year to win first place.”
She is now taking part in the event as a new innovative hair educator.
“I’m actually on a Dallas-based hair team, so I don’t compete anymore because I’m an educator,” said Fields. “But I’ve got a lot of trophies behind me today.”
Fields, who specializes in haircuts and healthy extensions, said she was delighted with the huge support it received at its opening on Sunday. It felt good to see the manifestation of her dream.
“I’m over the moon,” said Fields. “I’ve spent so many hours and days bringing this salon together.
“I was so tired, but when I see everyone today, I feel so excited,” she said on Sunday. “I feel so blessed to have so much support behind me.”
Fields said she was proof that dreams can be achieved. She also wants to motivate other aspiring entrepreneurs to make their dreams come true.
“I want to be able to tell anyone who’s going through it or who feels like giving up so as not to give up,” she said. “It took me 10 years in this industry to get my first hair salon and I never gave up.”
So “don’t give up on your dream,” she emphasized. “No matter what people say, what they do, never give up. Keep drifting, dragging, staying focused and keeping God first.
“And have a prayer life,” Fields added. “Have a prayer life because dreams really do come true. It will come true. “
Fields also challenged aspiring business owners to work hard, be consistent, dedicated, and focused. Additionally, she encouraged using continuing education courses to be successful.
“If you’re looking to start your own business, make sure you take business classes,” she advised. “Always educate yourself. Never stop learning, because continuing education is essential. So, I came here today doing further education, taking business classes, and knowing how to run a business before you could even start a business.
“That’s why I sat still for 10 years because I didn’t know how to run a business then, but today I’m ready,” she beamed. “I’m done.”
