HOUSTON – (BUSINESS WIRE) – The 2021-2022 school year is just around the corner and Reliant is partnering with local nonprofits and school districts to give families a head start and prepare for class. The utility is donating more than 10,000 back-to-school kits, including school supplies like pencils, notebooks, folders and more, to students in preschool through 12th grade.

Trusted volunteers will be on-site at locations across the state to distribute the 10,000 back-to-school kits to a variety of organizations including:
Houston area

Rainbow Youth Center providing educational resources and services for students of all ages.

Fort Bend Family Services, a health organization that addresses physical, social, and psychological needs.

Houston ISD, the largest school district in Texas and the seventh largest in the United States

Kids’ Meals, which provides free healthy meals to hungry children and acts as first aiders for children under five who are extremely hungry.

East Harris County Empowerment Council, an organization dedicated to empowering all groups of people through innovative programs and initiatives.

Lamar CISD, a school district in southwest Houston that provides quality education to encourage K-12 students to reach their full potential.

Stafford MSD, a small school district serving Harris and Fort Bend Counties of Houston, enables students to grow and excel in all academic fields.

Fort Bend ISD, a K-12 public education system in Fort Bend County, one of the fastest growing counties in the country.
Dallas-Fort Worth area

New Nation Center, a youth center in Plano that provides children and young adults with the skills to lead productive lives through a variety of social and educational programs.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, a Dallas city social service program that provides financial aid through groceries, utilities, and rental grants to more than 29,000 families in the Dallas area.
Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley area
