Tecovas brings its national brand to downtown Waco | Local Business News
Smith, who is a senior executive in the new business, said he spent three years at Tecovas on South Congress Avenue in Austin. Hailing from Boerne, a community of about 17,000 in the Texas Hill Country, he was delighted to move to Waco, which he sees as “a change of pace”.
He said Tecovas is internationally known and that he has felt the excitement of customers who visit the 3,300 square meter store. Tecovas recently opened a second store in Colorado and its Denver location joins one in Aspen. Others work in Atlanta; Charleston, South Carolina; Oklahoma City; Omaha, Nebraska; Charlotte, North Carolina; Scottsdale, Arizona; Birmingham, Alabama; and Nashville, Tennessee.
There are nine Tecovas stores in Texas, including Waco’s.
“The best news ever,” said resident Harper Singletary, 19, when he learned that Tecovas was about to open a store in Waco. He drove regularly to Tecovas in Dallas, but can now save money as an employee at Waco’s Tecovas.
“Very high quality,” said Singletary of Tecovas’ line of products, which includes wallets, socks, travel bags, travel kits, belts, buckles, shirts and jeans.
Alan Ritchie has been selling western goods in Waco for more than 40 years as the owner of Ritchie’s Western Wear on Waco Drive. He said he had heard of Tecovas and had no doubt that it is a good company that is selling a good product.
