Texas Man Who Worked Against COVID-19 Measures Dies from Virus – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A man who campaigned against wearing masks and other preventive measures in his central Texas community during the coronavirus pandemic died of COVID-19 a month after he was admitted to the emergency room.

Caleb Wallace died on Saturday, his wife Jessica Wallace said on a GoFundMe page that posted updates on his condition, the San Angelo Standard-Times reported on Saturday. He was 30 years old and the father of three children. His wife is pregnant with their fourth child.

“Caleb died peacefully. He will live forever in our hearts and minds,” wrote Jessica Wallace.

On July 4th, 2020, Caleb Wallace helped organize “The Freedom Rally” in San Angelo. Event attendees carried signs criticizing the wearing of masks, shop closings, the science behind COVID-19, and liberal media. He also organized the group “The San Angelo Freedom Defenders”.

“We’re not really happy with the current state of America at the moment,” Wallace said in July 2020.

In April, he wrote a letter to the San Angelo School District asking them to keep all of their COVID-19 logs.

Jessica Wallace told the newspaper that her husband suffered from COVID-19 symptoms on July 26, but refused to get tested or go to the hospital. Instead, he took high doses of vitamin C, zinc aspirin and ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug that officials have urged people not to take because of COVID-19.

Caleb Wallace was rushed to an emergency room on July 30th and had been unconscious and on a ventilator since August 8th.

The day before his death, Jessica Wallace posted on the family’s GoFundMe page that her husband was “an imperfect man, but he loved his family and his little girls dearly.”

“To those who wished him dead, I am sorry that his views and opinions offended you. I have prayed that he would come out of this with a new perspective and more appreciation for life. I can’t say much more because I can’t speak for him, “she said.
