Amid Travel Surge, North Texas Blogger Shares Adventures Close to Home – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

It’s called “Revenge Travel,” that travel boom after vaccination and shutdown. But while it has led to a spike in travel expenses, a north Texas travel blogger says there is an alternative nearby.

“We’re the size of several countries, so we certainly have several countries worth seeing,” said Jessica Serna.

It’s a point where Serna made a career to prove himself.

In the three years since she started her blog, My Curly Adventures, Serna and her husband have traveled and documented more than 60 trips.

These included surfing the sands of Monahans, stepping back in time to explore a medieval castle in Bellville, and swinging rope in Wimberly’s crystal blue spring.

“Realizing that you don’t have to travel far to have this incredible experience. For example, we have magic in our own backyards, I like to say that, ”said Serna.

Serna sometimes said it means exploring north Texas.

On the day she was interviewed for this story, Serna and her husband were venturing out to Lake Ray Hubbard for a picnic and sunset sailing aboard the Sea Wolf.

Serna said cities like Rockwall or maybe Canton might not be as important but could provide a weekend of adventure for travelers who have been put off by the recent surge in travel expenses thanks to renewed interest in the wake of the pandemic.

She added that it was also a way to preserve the places that really make Texas special.

“So many small shops are affected right now. So when you go to these small towns, eat in the mom and pop shops. You go to the little boutiques and you stay in these little inns.” where the people put so much heart and soul into it, ”said Serna.

With a passion for helping people realize that they don’t need a lot of free time or money to travel, Serna just released a guidebook of 50+ Texas trips under $ 50.
