PGP grants help qualified nonprofits fund a variety of operational and administrative activities that are critical to serving their communities.

GCHI recently completed a home renovation in the Gaston Point community in Gulfport where it acquired and renovated a home that was sold to a buyer who was enrolled in the Section 8 Homeownership Voucher Program. Two more are also being built in another Gulfport parish nearing completion.

Everett Lewis, executive director of GCHI, said the nonprofit plans to use a portion of the PGP funding to hire someone on a contract basis to provide liaison services to the community. The remaining funds will be used for operational and administrative services including surveying costs and architect fees.

“We want to offer individuals and families the opportunity to live in affordable and safe homes,” said Lewis. “So many people struggle to find and maintain affordable housing, and we want to help them take this burden off their plates.”

Hancock Whitney Senior Vice President and Director of Community Development Anthony Montgomery said the bank supports the mission of the Gulf Coast Housing Initiative.

“Your mission of stable and affordable housing is more important than ever in today’s environment of rising home prices,” said Montgomery.

For 2021, the FHLB Dallas awarded $ 400,000 in PGP grants, and its members provided an additional $ 200,250 for an impact of more than $ 600,000 in its five-state district of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas ready.

Greg Hettrick, first vice president and director of community investment for FHLB Dallas, said the PGP was beneficial for everyone involved.

“The 3-1 game of the FHLB Dallas underlines the partnership aspect of the program and makes it a unique advantage on various levels,” said Hettrick. “Hancock Whitney has an opportunity to strengthen his connections with the community while the community benefits from the partnership and resources.”
