Updated at 10:37 p.m. July 31: Revised to include the identity of the deceased.

A car owner killed a man in Uptown Dallas on Tuesday afternoon who stole the vehicle, police said on Wednesday.

Police were called to the 3200 block on North Fitzhugh Avenue near Travis Street at around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, where the shooting was reported.

The officers found a dead man in a parking lot in front of a restaurant. The police identified him as 23-year-old Mohammad Abdulrahman.

Police said Abdulrahman stole a vehicle that afternoon. He then got into an argument with the owner of the vehicle and rammed the stolen car into another of the man’s vehicles.

The owner of the car then shot and killed Abdulrahman, police said.

Detectives questioned the shooter, whom the police failed to identify. The case will be referred to a Dallas County grand jury to determine whether to bring charges.
