Texas Trees Foundation and Atmos Energy Partner to Celebrate 811 Day and Help Residents Safely Plant Trees Following the Winter Storm
DALLAS, August 9, 2021 / PRNewswire / – The fall season is the biggest tree-planting season of the year. North Texas gets even busier after the winter storm in February. With this in mind, it is important that trees are planted safely and properly.
Atmos Energy, Texas Trees Foundation and Texas 811 celebrate 811 Day on August 11, 2021, with a special tree dedication in White Rock Hills Park (2229 Highland Road, Dallas, TX 75228) from 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. to remind residents to call 811 before digging and help protect themselves and their community from hitting an underground utility while digging.
The fines for digging up utilities can vary from $ 1,000 to $ 25,000, with some violations doubling and tripling the size of these penalties. Chris Stovall, President of Texas811, hopes the event will raise awareness of the importance of safe planting and prevent preventable future accidents that could disrupt utility services, cost repairs, and even result in serious injury or death. “Calling 811 before digging will ensure our underground infrastructure remains free of damage as these trees take root and thrive for years to come.”
A free educational webinar, sponsored by Atmos Energy and the Texas Trees Foundation, entitled “Properly Planting and Assessing Your Tree After Your Winter Storm” is planned for 12. August and takes place online 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.. Further information can be found at https://www.texastrees.org/projects/811-day-and-educational-webinar/
