2 new Rodeo Goat burger joints coming to North Texas: Frisco and East Dallas
The free-running burger joint Rodeo Goat will open two restaurants in North Texas in 2022.
The first is expected to open in March 2022 in Frisco near Preston Road and Gaylord Parkway.

Rodeo Goat currently has six other restaurants: in the Dallas Design District, Fort Worth, Plano, Irving, Rockwall, and Houston. The burger joint is part of owner Shannon Wynne’s amusing list of high profile restaurants, which includes Meddlesome Moth in the Dallas Design District; 12 Flying Saucer beer bars and 11 Flying Fish restaurants.
Wynne says it is a good time for his burger joint to move to new neighborhoods in North Texas, although he has been careful about both: Frisco is high up, he says; and East Dallas wasn’t on his radar since he lives west of the Central Expressway.
“A lot of people don’t know that there is this beautiful part of Dallas with romantic architecture that is very peculiar,” he says of East Dallas.
The Frisco restaurant will replace an old macaroni grill. It will be the biggest rodeo goat to date.
East Dallas Restaurant is moving to Highland Park Cafeteria. CultureMap reported the news first.
The East Dallas burger joint will have built-in charm, largely because of the bell tower on the property. Wynne plans to add flower beds to give the modest patio a “softer side” in the middle of the strip.
Rodeo Goat has a history of branding burgers with the names of local celebrities. For example, our own Dallas Morning News Texas Rangers writer Evan Grant will be back on all Rodeo Goat menus during the World Series run.
Wynne is on the lookout for Frisco celebrities that burgers are named after. In East Dallas, the restaurant will add a thriller: the Murder Burger by Skip Hollandsworth, a longtime writer for Texas Monthly who specializes in crime. Hollandsworth is an east Dallasite.
Wynne didn’t want to reveal what’s on his burger. “It’s damned,” he says.
Rodeo Goat at 3111 Preston Road (near Gaylord Parkway), Frisco, is expected to open in March 2022. Rodeo Goat at 1200 N. Buckner Blvd. (in Casa Linda), Dallas, is expected to open in late spring 2022.
