Love Texas high school football? The Dallas Morning News is hiring freelancers for the 2021 season

The Dallas Morning News is looking for paid freelancers to help with their unrivaled live coverage of high school football.

FREELANCE REPORTER FOR UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL

The Dallas Morning News sports division is looking for freelancers to create stats and stories for high school football games for the upcoming season. We are looking for candidates who already live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The activity includes:

– Travel to a game with a laptop and a wifi card (we provide these).

– Entry of live play-by-play statistics.

– Write a short summary of the game.

– The ability to take pictures and videos on a smartphone upon request.

– Compulsory in-person, paid training. New candidates must attend a meeting in July (27th or 29th) AND one in August (3rd or 5th). All sessions are from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Candidates should bring the following:

– A passion for and understanding of the rules and statistics of high school football.

– Fast, accurate computer literacy and the ability to manually collect statistics when needed.

– Drive to get it right, get it quick.

– Ability to write effectively on time.

– Ability to commute in and around Dallas-Fort Worth.

This part-time freelance opportunity is available to college students and others with experience in high school football. It is paid.
