DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – If you have travel plans for this Labor Day weekend, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says you may want to reconsider.
The proposal is due to the increase in COVID-19 cases.

They say the unvaccinated should not travel and the vaccinated should consider their risk.
And when it comes to indoor public gatherings, everyone should wear a mask unless outside with others who are fully vaccinated.
Health experts from North Texas say the guidelines apply specifically to people in our area.

“We can control these preventive measures in the short term,” said Steve Miff, CEO of the Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation.
He says they have seen encouraging data that Dallas County has seen a decrease in positive active cases, but it is unclear whether Labor Day weekend will be the last holiday requiring Covid logs.
He says that a peak usually lasts about two months and that hopefully we will descend soon, but many of the trends depend on our own actions and decisions that we pull together.

“We need to keep vaccinating, and that will keep us going through the fall break and possible winter spikes,” said Miff.
