Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, in partnership with the United States National Guard, will offer free Covid-19 vaccines to all international travelers and anyone who wants one. The free vaccines are available at the airport until September 12th or while supplies last.

Airport authorities and airlines are already preparing for a massive surge in travelers from Mexico. The airport is already seeing a 135 percent increase in the number of travelers arriving from Mexico compared to 2019 before the pandemic.

It’s not just Mexican nationals looking for a vaccine. Millions of Americans and Canadians who live in Mexico flock to the US to get their recordings. The introduction of vaccines in Mexico has been slow and some of the vaccines offered by the Mexican authorities are not recognized by the US or Canada.

Types of Free Vaccines That Are Offered

Dallas Airport offers 3 different types of vaccines for those who want one.

Improving connectivity with Mexico

The connection between Mexico and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport has never been interrupted due to the pandemic. The airport currently operates 59 daily flights to and from Mexico and recorded a total of 1,836 flights in July. Given the increased demand from both Mexican nationals flying south and the record breaking demand from US travelers to Mexico, airlines have made an effort to add more connectivity.

Feeling of urgency as vaccination records become more common

More Americans and Canadians living in Mexico, as well as Mexican nationals, are traveling to the United States to get their vaccines. The beach town of Mazatlán recently required proof of vaccination to enter all businesses, including grocery stores and restaurants.

While the Mexican president announced that entry requirements will remain the same and no proof of vaccination is required to enter, Mexican states and local authorities can enact their own prevention rules, including using vaccination cards to enter businesses.
