Driving to Dallas for the OU-Texas game? Plan ahead for road construction – FOX23 News
OKLAHOMA, Oklahoma – If you’re heading to Dallas for the Red River Rivalry OU vs Texas game, plan the road construction ahead of time.
Below is a list of road construction projects to be carried out until reaching the Oklahoma-Texas border shared by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Nationwide:
I-35 lanes OPEN, speed limit in work zone between Wayne and Pauls Valley; I-35 ramp closed at SH-59, McClain Co./Garvin Co.
All lanes of I-35 north and south between SH-59 near Wayne and SH-19 in Pauls Valley are open to traffic to and from the game Friday through Sunday. The speed limit in the work zone remains reduced to 60 mph, and drivers should watch out for work zone signs, cones, barrels and equipment near the pavement. Additionally, the ramp to I-35 southbound on SH-59 near Wayne is closed. Motorists can take I-35 southbound at SH-74 in Purcell, SH-145 near Paoli, or SH-19 in Pauls Valley.
I-35 lanes OPEN in the work area between Marietta and Thackerville, Love Co.
All lanes of north and south I-35 are open north of SH-153 (mm 8-9) between Marietta and Thackerville. Drivers should watch out for signs, cones, barrels, and equipment near the roadway.
I-35 narrows to a lane near Braman, Kay Co.
I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between W. Braman Rd. (mm 230) and US-177 (mm 221) in Braman for bridge reconstruction.
I-40 narrows to a track near Sallisaw, Sequoyah Co.
I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Dwight Mission Rd. (mm 303) and US-59 (mm 308) in Sallisaw for a bridge project.
I-40 in Vian is narrowed to one lane, Sequoyah Co. I-40 is being temporarily narrowed to one lane in each direction at SH-82 (mm 297) in Vian for a bridge reconstruction project.
I-40 in Checotah narrowed to one lane, McIntosh Co. I-40 in US-69B (mm 265) in Checotah narrowed to one lane in each direction for the bridge construction.
I-40 is narrowed to one lane in Okemah, Okfuskee Co. I-40 is in each direction between Clearview Rd. (Mm 227) and US-62 West / SH-27 (mm 221) in Okemah for pavement reconstruction .
I-40 narrows to one lane near Clinton, Custer Co. I-40 narrows to one lane in each direction between Stafford Road. (mm 57) near Foss and I-40B / Gary Blvd. (mm 65) in Clinton for road rehabilitation.
I-40 narrows to a lane near SH-152 in Sayre, Beckham Co.
The I-40 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction near SH-152 (mm 23) in Sayre for bridge rehabilitation.
I-40B narrows to a lane in Elk City, Beckham Co.
The I-40B will be narrowed to one lane in each direction for the bridge construction over Elk Creek in Elk City.
The I-40B narrows on the Washita River in Clinton, Custer Co.
The I-40B will be narrowed on the Washita River east of the US-183 in Clinton to one lane in each direction for bridge rehabilitation.
US-69 narrows to a track near Oktaha, Muskogee Co.
US-69 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction for resurfacing between Oktaha and Summit.
US-69 narrows to a track near Eufaula, McIntosh Co.
US-69 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between SH-150 / Texanna Rd. and SH-9 in Eufaula for rebuilding the sidewalk.
US-69 will be narrowed to one lane in McAlester, Pittsburg Co. US-69 will be narrowed to one lane south of US-270 between Comanche Ave. for rebuilding. and S. 14th St. in McAlester.
US-69 / US-75 narrows near Durant, Bryan Co.
US-69 / US-75 will be narrowed to two lanes in each direction south of US-70 near Durant for reconstruction.
US-77 narrows to a track near Pauls Valley, Garvin Co.
The US-77 will be narrowed to one lane for bridge rehabilitation with a temporary traffic light on the Washita River two miles north of Pauls Valley.
US-377 / SH-99 temporarily narrows to one lane on Lake Texoma, Marshall Co.
US-377 / SH-99 is temporarily narrowed to one lane at the Willis Bridge over Lake Texoma south of Madill in order to reconstruct the bridge.
US-377 / SH-99 narrows to a lane with signals near Seminole, Seminole Co.
US-377 / SH-99 will be narrowed to one lane with a temporary signal directing traffic approximately one mile south of SH-59 between Seminole and Bowlegs in order to rehabilitate the bridge.
US-183 narrows between Snyder and Manitou, Kiowa Co./Tillman Co.
US-183 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction for resurfacing between Snyder and Manitou.
US-270 / US-183 narrows at Seiling, Major Co./Woodward Co.
US-270 / US-183 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction between Seiling and Mutual for pavement rebuilding.
US-270 narrows near Oakwood, Dewey Co.
US-270 will be narrowed in each direction between SH-51 intersection and Oakwood for pavement rebuilding.
Oklahoma Turnpike Authority
I-44 / Turner Turnpike narrows near Sapulpa, Creek Co.
The I-44 / Turner Turnpike is between SH-364 / Creek Turnpike (mm 218) near Sapulpa and 49th W. Ave. (mm 222A) in Tulsa narrowed to two lanes in each direction in order to carry out ongoing reconstructions and extensions.
Metro Tulsa:
Southbound US-75 (East Leg IDL) closed
The US-75 to the south (eastern section of the Inner Dispersal Loop) between Independence St. and US-64 / SH-51 is closed to a surface renewal project until spring 2022.
The traffic is diverted to the other sections of the IDL.
Exchange I-44 / US-75; Road and ramp closures, expect delays
As part of a project to expand I-44 from west of the Arkansas River to Union Ave. and to improve the I-44 / US-75 interchange, drivers must expect significant delays, especially during rush hour. Drivers are encouraged to pay their full attention to the road while driving in these corridors.
- Motorists traveling south on US-75 should be aware of traffic coming from the ramp on I-44 heading west.
- The east and west I-44 will be narrowed to two lanes in this work zone. Drivers must expect considerable delays in the corridor, especially at peak times.
- The eastern exit of the I-44 to the northbound US-75 (mm 224B) and the southbound US-75 exit to the eastbound I-44 are closed until the beginning of 2022. Consider an alternative route, e.g. B. the I-244.
Lanes narrowed at the intersection I-44 / I-244 (western division)
Motorists can travel east and west on I-44 between 49th W. Ave. and the western I-44 / I-244 division as well as on the I-244 in a westerly direction on the I-44 division as part of a continuous sign with various road closures and lighting project.
US-412 / US-64 / SH-51 narrows near 49th W. Ave.
Until further notice, motorists should avoid modal shifts, hard shoulder closures, and reduced speeds on US-412 / US-64 / SH-51 going east and west between 49th W. Ave. and 65th W. Ave. eighth authority.
Yale Ave. closed at SH-20 intersection near Collinsville
All lanes north and south of Yale Avenue are closed until further notice at the SH-20 intersection as part of the ongoing SH-20 expansion project near Collinsville. During this time, traffic on Whirlpool Dr. diverted. As part of this project, drivers should continue to watch out for the construction zone and the reduced speeds along the east and west facing SH-20 from the US-75 intersection to Collinsville until the summer of 2022.
Oklahoma City Subway:
The exchange work on the I-235 / I-44 will continue until 2021; expect limited merging areas
I-235 north and south between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St. and east and west I-44 between Western Ave. (mm 126) and Kelley Ave. (mm 128B) are both narrowed to two lanes in each direction until 2021. Drivers should watch out for limited junction areas on ramps throughout the work area. Motorists should plan ahead and consider their alternate off-Broadway routes I-35, I-40, SH-74 / Lake Hefner Parkway and Martin Luther King Ave. use to avoid the area.
I-40 narrows at Sunnylane Rd. In Del City
East and westbound I-40 will be narrowed to two lanes between Sunnylane Rd. (mm 155A) and Hudiburg Dr. (mm 156B) for bridge reconstruction. The driveway of the I-40 in a westerly direction from Hudiburg Dr. is closed until winter 2022. Drivers should pay attention to limited junction areas within the work zone and exercise particular caution in the entire area. Drivers should plan additional travel time and be prepared for delays or seek an alternative route such as I-240 and US-62 / NE 23rd St.
I-44 narrows south of I-40
The I-44 to the east (runs north) and the I-44 to the west (runs to the south) are narrowed to two lanes between SW 74th St. (mm 114) and the I-40 (mm 120) Being able to rehabilitate the bridge and sidewalk by the fall of 2021, including Will Rogers World Airport traffic, can expect significant delays and should allow for additional travel time or use an alternative route such as SH-4 or the John Kilpatrick Turnpike to the west .

Head west on SH-152 / Airport Road. will be narrowed to one lane between I-44 and MacArthur Blvd. by 2021 for bridge work as part of an expansion, surface renewal and bridge renovation project that will last until summer 2022. Drivers, including Will Rogers World Airport traffic, face significant delays and should allow additional travel time.
